Over the course of his twenty plus year career, Dr. Genn has performed more than 20,000 procedures in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Colonoscopy for colon cancer screening, including the removal of precancerous polyps, is one of Dr. Genn's principal areas of expertise. Colon cancer screening is the primary reason the incidence of colon cancer and death due to colon cancer has decreased substantially over the past two decades. This screening allows cancer to be detected in its earliest stages, which substantially improves prognosis and likelihood of survival.

EGD is used to diagnose a host of conditions including GERD, cancers, ulcers and inflammation of the upper GI tract. Dr. Genn is equally skilled at gastric feeding tube placement via endoscopy which is known as Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy tube placement or PEG.
In addition to Colonoscopy and Endoscopy procedures, Dr. Genn has extensive experience in treating actively bleeding ulcers by using cautery, epinephrine injection and hemoclip techniques. Another area of core specialization is Dr. Genn's ability to perform both emergent and elective banding of esophageal varices in patients with cirrhosis. He also has substantial experience in the dilation of strictures of the esophagus, stomach and sigmoid colon.
Dr. Genn also performs internal hemorrhoid treatments with infrared coagulation. Plus, Dr. Genn is experienced in the use of Argon Plasma Coagulation to cauterize bleeding lesions in the stomach and duodenum as well as the colon.
Dr. Genn performs all of these procedures using state of the art equipment in Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (“JCAHO”) approved facilities.
Overall, Dr. Genn is committed to providing each patient he treats with ongoing quality care. In order to ensure this commitment, Dr. Genn registered with and participated in the GI Quality Improvement Consortium (“GIQuIC”). As a participant in the GIQuIC, Dr. Genn performed ongoing, peer-based performance evaluations in which he sought quality improvements on a daily basis for his practice and for the outcomes of his patients.
Dr. Genn's commitment to quality and his leadership were recognized by his peers as Dr. Genn was appointed and served as President of a state of the art Ambulatory Surgical Center in the Hudson Valley. Dr. Genn's expertise and his thorough understanding of how Gastroenterology relates to other organ systems has resulted in Dr. Genn serving as an integral part of many inpatient care teams which often include other physicians such as internists, surgeons, ER and ICU intensivists.
